How to Listen to Your M4B Audiobook

What is an M4B?

M4B is a file format specifically for audiobooks, allowing features like bookmarking.

While you can simply open the file and listen to it on the browser as if it’s a music file, audiobooks provide a richer listening experience with features like bookmarking, playback speed control, and sleep timers.

Listening on Desktop

  1. macOS:

    • Open the file directly. It should open in Apple Books.
    • Alternatively, drag and drop the file into the Apple Books application.
  2. Windows:

    • Download and install iTunes for Windows.
    • Drag and drop the M4B file into the “Books” or “Audiobooks” section of your iTunes library.

Listening on Mobile

  1. iPhone/iPad (iOS):

    • We recommend using: BookPlayer. Add a new book (+ sign) and select the M4B file.
    • Alternatively, open the file and it should start playing.
  2. Android:

    • Transfer the M4B file to your device storage or a cloud storage service.
    • Download a third-party audiobook player app from the Google Play Store that supports M4B files. We recommend Smart Audiobook Player.
    • Open the app and navigate to the M4B file to begin listening.

Tips for Enjoying Your Audiobook

  • M4B files support bookmarking, so you can easily pick up where you left off.
  • Check your chosen app for features like playback speed control and sleep timers.
